          Job Description :

          Newport Corporationis a leading manufacturer of advanced technology products used to make, manage, and measure light. The Oriel Instruments brand, based in Stratford, CT, provides a comprehensive line of "tools" for photonics and laser research. Our product line includes CW Light Sources, Spectroscopic Instruments, Photovoltaic test and measurement equipment.

          Sr. Electro-Optical Engineer

          Responsibilities:

          * Design of new photonics instruments and upgrade of existing photonics instruments
          * Electro-optical design, validation and documentation for new product development and existing product improvements
          * Conduct market analysis to evaluate market needs and competitors' offerings to define product roadmaps
          * Research new photonics technologies
          * Lead the design/improvement of light source and detector calibration stations
          * Write manuals, datasheets, product development plans
          * Provide Customer, Sales, and Manufacturing support and trainingJob Requirements:

          * MS in Electrical or Optical Engineering required with minimum 10 years of practical experience
          * Instrument Design experience required
          * Direct experience in the design and test of spectroscopic instruments
          * Project managment experience
          * Excellent analysis skills required
          * Familiarity of data processing and analytical software (Matlab/Mathematics or similar)
          * Must be deadline-driven and be able to work in a team
          * Must have excellent time management skills as well as good oral and written communication skills
