Stonington Institute beganserving recovering alcoholics in 1957 as Starlight Farms, a workingfarm where adults in recovery were introduced to the principles ofAlcoholics Anonymous. Today, we are the longest continuallyoperating, free-standing, voluntary treatment facility in NewEngland. Our main campus is located in North Stonington, CT, in itsoriginal private and peaceful rural setting. We have additionalclinical sites in Groton, CT. Transportation and off-campus housingassistance make our programs and services accessible to a statewideclientele. Those programs include: medical detoxification,rehabilitation/residential treatment, partial hospitalization,intensive outpatient treatment (both day and evening), ambulatorydetoxification and residential substance abuse treatment for militaryservicemembers and their dependents. The Institute accepts privateinsurance, state-funded plans and self pay arrangements.
Medical assistants take vital signs of patients,coordinate medical and psychiatric appointments, manage themedication orders procedure, and serve as liaison with the pharmacy.The MA also completes documentation for with labwork, follows the admissions & telephone screeningprocedures, and is responsible for completing 15-30 minuteobservation logs on all patients.
Part-time opening: 1 first shift(6:45am-3:15pm), 2 evening shifts (2:45pm-11:15pm)weekly. May include weekends. Per diem hours alsoavailable.
High School Diploma. Must be computer literate. Certified Nurses Aide, EMT, Paramedic, Med Tech Certified, orCertified Medical Assistant strongly preferred. Substance abuseand/or psychiatric experience helpful.
