Qualifications:
Current CT Nursing License, Bachelor's degree, Master Degree in Nursing Education preferred. Demonstrated clinical competence in areas of assignment. Minimum 3 years recent appropriate experience in emergency nursing.

Functioning within the context of the framework for professional nursing practice, theNurseEducator,in consultation and collaboration with emergency department leadership facilitates training, education and development by assessing, planning, developing, implementation, coordination and evaluation of projects and programs for staff, faculty, patient populations and the community. This is accomplished to ensure role competence, compliance with regulatory standards, and to meet organizational goal.
Develops and coordinates curriculum/plan utilizing principles of age-appropriate learning, and effective use of resources (human, material and technological) to meet assessed learning needs (i.e. required validation, new employee orientation, community and professional education). Promotes practice standards, based on evidence-based practice, to ensure optimal patient/population outcomes. Collaborates/partner with affiliated faculty to provide optimal learning experiences that support the organization's standards of care and framework for professional practice. Collaborates with affiliates to facilitate training, development and education in order to ensure consistency, continuity and cost effectiveness across the continuum. Maximizes the potential of the group/individual learner and educational programs by evaluating the effectiveness of different educational modalities. This is done by observing learners, testing, simulations, documentation and patient outcomes, student evaluation, and revising strategy based on results. Identifies, implements, and evaluates various strategies to enhance use of research-based finding by individuals in areas of responsibility. Provide clinical leadership to model professional practice. Demonstrates competencies, including knowledge and behaviors, to meet age specific patient need (e.g. Pediatrics, Adolescents, Geriatrics) based on results. Collaborates with centralized educator group, trauma coordinator, stroke coordinator and other members of the health care team to meet the needs of all staff members. This position reports to the Nurse Director of Emergency Services.
