Job Description Electrical Design and Engineering. Candidates will be responsible for supporting a wide variety of available electrical systems and equipment for propulsion plant components, ship systems components, reactor plant instrumentation and control systems, steam and electric plant systems and components, advanced power electronics and power system applications, as well as the design, development and analysis of advanced power electronic and power system applications. Engineering opportunities range from initial system design through development, upgrade/modification and repair work for these components/systems on existing ships, hardware/software integration, maintenance and modernization of existing systems, test, delivery and integration of the systems aboard nuclear submarines including Ohio Replacement Program (including integration of Common Missile Compartment with the United Kingdom), VIRGINIA Class, LOS ANGELES Class, OHIO/SSGN Class, SEAWOLF Class, Moored Training Ships (MTS), and land based prototypes. Candidates will be required to fulfill the responsibilities of a project engineer overseeing all aspects of the development of complex tasks including maintaining budgets and schedules, interfacing with design and other engineering organizations and technical review of all products. Candidates may also be required to evaluate and disposition system and component related questions and liaison inquiries from Naval Shipyards, Navy Forces afloat, land based prototype, reactor plant prime contractors and NAVSEA. Candidates may also be required to provide construction engineering support both on site and at naval shipyards.
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Mathematics or related technical degree is required.
